Following the establishment of Bangkok in 1782,over a thousand images from temples around the country were brought to the new capital and enshrined in its new temples. There was thus little impetus for the creation of new images and those prouced were generally copies of those of Ayuthaya.
Later in the Bangkok period, images became more realistic and historically accurate owning to the influence of King Mongkut who sought to demystify the religion.
